HDA shares more than 25 years on a range of state and national expertise with public benefits programs and best practices involving disability employment and economic security for people with disabilities. These capacity-building trainings and presentations are designed to teach providers, case managers, social workers, lawyers, and others how to navigate public benefits and systems so they can better serve clients and patients.

Forging a Path to Successful Adulthood for Children with Disabilities

This training introduces parents and guardians to the range of programs and services for young adults with disabilities that become “pathways” to independence. Know what to ask and when, and connect with resources that can lead to success.

Disability Culture Assessment

This training workshop teaches skills for working with persons with disabilities. The curriculum is intended to provide a basic knowledge of disability culture, including appropriate person first language, as well as relevant legislation such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Target Audiences:

  • Social service providers
  • Social workers
  • Case managers

Delivery Method: This 2 hour workshop is designed for approximately 40 participants.
