MAKE MEDICARE WORK COALITION (MMW)
The Make Medicare Work Coalition is a collaborative project between Health & Disability Advocates, AgeOptions, formerly known as Suburban Area Agency on Aging, and the Progress Center for Independent Living. The Make Medicare Work Coalition was organized to respond to the significant challenges posed to states, Medicare consumers, and health care providers by the MMA. The project marries policy, advocacy and education efforts in Illinois to provide a holistic approach to creating “smart” and responsive policy in Illinois. It also provides education and assistance to consumers in connection with the Medicare benefits being implemented through the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA). To achieve this, the MMW has developed three initiatives: the MMW Policy Group, the HealthCare Choices Work Group and the HealthCare Choices Resource Center. The MMW has built a leadership partnership in its three lead agencies that maximizes educational materials as well as policy materials from one source.
